The first meeting of the SafeWeb project – Cybersecurity and Vocational Education and Training (VET) took place on 3-4 December 2025 in Västerås, Sweden, and was hosted by Mälardalens University. The two-day kick-off meeting brought together partners from across Europe to launch the project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ program, which focuses on strengthening cybersecurity education in vocational education and training (VET) systems.
At the meeting, partners discussed key project foundations, including project management, work package coordination, dissemination planning, and quality assurance. The event established a collaborative framework for the 30-month project and marked the start of the joint development process of SafeWeb’s educational tools, including a multilingual e-learning platform, a cybersecurity game, an online course, and a simulation environment for training on real-world cyber threats.
The SafeWeb project (2025–2028) funded by the Erasmus+ program (KA220-VET), is dedicated to enhancing cybersecurity and online safety within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. This initiative focuses on empowering VET educators and students with the essential skills to navigate both technical and non-technical online threats.
The SafeWeb project consist of eight diverse partners from Poland, Greece, Slovenia, Portugal, Italy, Sweden, and Belgium, selected for their expertise in VET education, digitalization, and online safety. This balanced partnership was formed after detailed consultations to ensure each organization provides unique value and technical proficiency. The project includes Mälardalen University (Sweden), Stowarzyszenie Euro Lider (Poland), SYstem Dynamics Italian Chapter – SYDIC (Italy), SMARTS PC (Greece), University of Maribor (Slovenia), PrepareMeAI (Poland), SpinSystem (Belgium), NOVA UNL (Portugal). Together, these partners offer a complementary mix of academic research and practical industry experience. Each organization brings a high dissemination potential through established networks and a proven track record in Erasmus+ and international projects. This collaborative synergy ensures the high-quality development of project outputs while effectively reaching target groups across different European contexts.
Led by Mälardalen University (Sweden) in collaboration with seven international partners, SafeWeb will develop innovative digital tools. Key project results include a responsive (RWD) e-learning platform, an interactive cybersecurity game, a comprehensive online course with a teaching guide, and a specialized simulation environment.
By fostering digital transformation and promoting safe digital habits, the project aims to increase the attractiveness of VET and prepare learners for a secure digital future. These high-quality, multilingual resources will support professionals and students across Europe in addressing today’s evolving cyber challenges.

Our first kick-off meeting was successfully held online on 2 October 2025, setting the tone for a productive and inspiring partnership. During the meeting, all partners had the opportunity to introduce themselves, share their backgrounds, and express their enthusiasm for the project. It was a great moment to connect, align expectations, and build a shared understanding of our goals.
The session also included a comprehensive project overview, outlining the key objectives, milestones, and roles of each partner. This helped ensure that everyone is on the same page and ready to contribute effectively from the very beginning.
